Artist's Description

This is painted on Habotai 10mm silk using Jacquard dyes. I do not use resist and the dye is free to move and flow at will. I find this technique exciting and challenging.

About Susan Moody

Susan Moody

Susan Douglass Moody was inspired to pursue art by watching her great-grandmother paint. Susan studied fine arts at Metro State College and the Art Institute of Denver. She now works predominantly in silk and dyes to make nature-inspired images, although she is skilled in several media, including watercolor, oils and photography. She does not use resist with her dyes, but prefers to allow them to flow at will to create unknown and uncontrollable effects. She says, "It is like the dye has a life of its own."
